We have separate terms and conditions for the Guest House Rooms and the Self Catering Bothy.

If you confirm a booking with us, we will assume you have read and accepted our terms and conditions as set out below.

Deposits & Payment

Deposits – We require a Debit or Credit card deposit to secure your booking.

All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE and as such, we recommend you obtain travel insurance against cancellation. In addition, deposits are not transferable.

Balances – Our preferred method of payment is cash or debit card. We also accept credit cards, but these may incur an additional administration fee to cover bank charges.

We regret that we are no longer able to accept cheques.

Cancellation

When you make a reservation it is a legal contract between Ardlogie Guest House and yourself. Please note that our cancellation policy is part of this contract.

Cancellation by guests:
If you need to cancel your booking for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible.

  • Up to 3 days notice - No charge, except for your non-refundable deposit
  • Less than 3 days notice - Cancellation charge equivalent to the cost of one nights stay per room booked (less deposit), unless we are able to re-let the room
  • No contact or no show by 8pm (20.00) on arrival day - the full value of the booking will be charged to your debit/credit card.
  • No reduction is made for temporary absence or for departure earlier than confirmed.

We would recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover you in the event of cancellation.

Cancellation by us: Should it be necessary for us to cancel a booking, we will contact you immediately to explain the situation and your deposit will be refunded in full. Should you wish us to, we will attempt to book you into another local Guest House or B+B of the same standard.

Damage/Breakages  - Ardlogie Guest House is our home (as well as our business) and we do expect guests to treat the premises and contents with care and respect. Whilst within reason some wear and tear is inevitable, guests are responsible for any damage caused or missing items, the repair or replacement of which will, at the discretion of the proprietors, be charged at cost.

Check In - Guests can check in anytime between 4pm & 6pm (16.00 & 18.00) on the day of arrival. We will always try to be flexible and certainly with prior arrangement, alternative times will usually be possible.

Check Out - Rooms must be vacated by 10.00 on your day of departure.

Ardlogie is a no-smoking guest house - Please respect this request for the benefit of all our guests. Thank you.

Pets – As much as we love our animal friends, pets are not allowed at Ardlogie. Sorry !

Leisure Passes  - We have 4 passes to share amongst all guests on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. Please note that whilst passes are free to use, they must be returned to Ardlogie before you depart. If not we have no choice but to charge £10 per missing card, as this is the amount Macdonald Hotels now charge us for replacement cards.

Please read carefully. When a booking is confirmed with us, you are entering into a binding contract with Ardlogie, the principal terms of which are set out below.

Availability - The booking is made on the understanding that we will make the accommodation available to you on the dates stated.  Should this not be possible due to events beyond our reasonable control we offer you alternative dates or a refund of your accommodation rental, but you will have no other claim or remedy against us.  A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.

Payment - A non-refundable deposit, equivalent to £10 per night is payable on booking, the balance being payable on arrival.

Cancellation - In the event of cancellation the deposit is non-refundable and the following scale of charges will apply:

  • Up to 4 weeks - deposit only
  • 2 - 4 weeks - 50% of total holiday cost
  • Within 2 weeks of holiday - 100% of total holiday cost.

All cancellations must be notified in writing (email is acceptable) by the client.  We recommend that you take out holiday insurance which includes cancellation expenses.

Times - On the day of arrival, occupation will be available from 4pm (but not before) and on the day of departure accommodation must be vacated by 10.30am.

Occupancy - The Bothy is for a maximum of 2 people only. Under no circumstances may the Bothy be used for sleeping more than 2 people. A baby counts as a person for this condition. If this condition is breached we have the right to terminate the contract immediately, without refund. We reserve the right to terminate, vary or re-allocate the accommodation where all material facts are not disclosed.  Any unauthorised extension of stay will be charged at the full daily rate. The Bothy may not be sub-let.

Linen - Duvet cover, four pillows and pillow cases, fitted sheet, three towels and one tea towel are supplied.

Leisure Passes - For the avoidance of doubt, these are only available to Guest House guests who have priority. However, in quiet periods or where there is no other demand it may be possible to use them. Please ask, but do not be offended if it is not possible. As with other users, failure to return passes will incur a £10 replacement card charge, this being the amount Macdonald Hotels charge us.

Care - We would ask you to leave the accommodation and its contents clean and tidy when vacating.  No fat left in pots and pans please.  If excessive cleaning is required a 'Double Cleaning Charge' will be levied, normally £25.  Please report any damages or breakages immediately.  All damages or breakages of the fittings, equipment, TV, utensils, crockery or cutlery must be reported and will be charged for. If not reported, but discovered after departure they will be charged to the same card as used for the deposit.

Pets - Sorry, no pets allowed.

Responsibility - The person booking and paying the deposit accepts liability for the behaviour of all party members and for ensuring that conditions of booking are adhered to, for loss or damage to the accommodation and the contents.

Age Limit - The Bothy cannot be rented to persons under eighteen.

Personal Effects - We will not be responsible for the loss or damage to personal property of guests occupying the accommodation.  Vehicles, their accessories and contents are left at your own risk.  Postage and packaging will be charged for return of belongings left behind. Any lost property not claimed within 1 month will be disposed of

Accidents - We will not be responsible for any injury or death, save insofar as it results from the proven negligence of the Proprietor. All our guests are encouraged to ensure that they have adequate property and personal insurance for their holiday

Candles (including tea lights) - As this is a wooden building no candles or tea lights are to be used due to the increased fire risk

Music - When using stereo equipment or similar appliances, please consider others, especially between 11pm and 8am. No late night disturbances will be tolerated.

Accommodation - If for any reason the accommodation is unsatisfactory please notify us immediately so that appropriate action can be taken.  We cannot accept subsequent claims for shortcomings not so notified.

Delays - No liability can be accepted should adverse weather conditions delay your travel plans.

Rent Act - The booking agreement confers a right to occupy the accommodation for the period agreed for holiday purposes only.  Terms of the rent act are excluded.
